Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra kicked off the ''''Save Girl Child'' campaign in New Delhi. Priyanka Chopra who received the National Award for her role in the movie ''Fashion'' on Friday, appeared very enthusiastic over the initiative of ''The Sun Foundation''.
The campaign which is kick-started by ''The Sun Foundation'' is very important in today''s scenario. We are aware but the conditioning, which we had till now, teaches us that the girls are not very important and the male child is always wanted," said Priyanka Chopra.
"This thinking should be eradicated. To know that if you give your girl child an opportunity then she can develop her potential, that she can be as successful as a boy," she added.
The Sun Foundation is a charitable institution that is committed towards changing the mindset of the Indian society with respect to the Girl Child.

Jacqueline Fernandes will be seen in a bikini in the promos of Milap Zaveri's Jaane Kahaan Se Aayi Hai. The actress, who essays an alien from the planet Venus, slips into the two-piece when she discovers water. The makers of the romcom have shot a series of promos with Jacqueline's character doing things unknown to her -- like dancing, sneezing and gymming.
She has worn a yellow-and- blue bikini and as she emerges from the pool of water, her co-stars Riteish Deshmukh, Ruslaan Mumtaz and Vishal Malhotra can't stop ogling at her. Ritiesh even quips, "Thank God she discovered water!"
Jacqueline, who was earlier seen in Aladin, had no qualms about displaying her curves. Says Milap, "Jacqueline has been a model and a former Miss Sri Lanka so she was not averse to wearing a bikini. It is a cute, funny promo and the idea was not to titillate. There is nothing overtly cheap in it and Jacqueline looks very classy in it. The idea is not to titillate. Her character Tara is mischievous but innocent."
He adds, "We decided to have these cute, funny promos keeping in mind the movie's youth-entric subject. When producer Nikhil Advani and I brainstormed along with Riteish, we thought of this series of promos instead of the usual scenes with dialogues which will come closer to the film's release on April 9."
