Deepika Padukone as Tissot - Swiss Watch Maker's Brand Ambassador
Deepika Padukone's partnership with Tissot began in December 2007, shortly after the worldwide release of the major Bollywood film "Om Shanti Om", in which she had an important role. Both ventures have been bathed in success. "Om Shanti Om" was a hit with audiences around the world and now ranks as the second highest grossing Hindi movie ever.. Deepika's performance brought her a string of awards, including the Filmfare Award for the best female debut, the Star Screen Award for the most promising newcomer and the IIFA Award for the best female debutante. Since then her film career has taken off and her latest filmography features "Bachna Ae Haseeno" (2008), "Kartik Calling Kartik" (2009), "Love Aaj Kal" (2009)and "Chandni Chowk to China" (2009).
Her Tissot ambassadorship has also reaped many rewards and the diversity of the collection, rooted in its reliable Swiss heritage, has proved to be just the ticket for her multi-faceted lifestyle. She loves being able to find just the right watch for the occasion and mood, every time. Deepika loves the Tissot T-Touch models, although since diamonds are traditionally a girl's best friend, she admits to having a real soft-spot for the Tissot Classic Prince Diamonds and the Generosi-T. Deepika reflects on the similarities between her personality and the Tissot brand, "We are both adventurous, sophisticated and classy, yet very approachable."
Daughter of a former badminton world champion, Deepika at one stage looked set to follow in her father's footsteps. But then a passion for modelling stole the show. Deepika is still keen to point out that sport remains a vital ingredient for keeping a balance between her professional and private lives, and yoga and swimming have joined her established repertoire of sports disciplines. When asked for her personal perspective on what success is made of, Deepika has a clear response - "To love and enjoy everything you do. And to be happy with the smaller things in life."
Priyanka Chopra Glamorous Photoshoot For Asmi
The hot-and-happening Priyanka Chopra has signed up as the new brand ambassador of Asmi Jewellery. After playing herself in TVCs for a leading mobile phone company, the Bollywood actress will be again seen playing herself (model-actress) in this recently shot commercial.
The ad will be a show reel of her real life in which the feisty actress will mouth the line, "I believe everyday is a test where I must prove myself." The ad will also see Priyanka winning the Miss World title and receiving film awards.
Styled by Gavin Mingul, the actress will sport a girl next door, de-glam look and in the final shot walk up to a mirror; check out her diamond necklace and her earrings and turn to camera and say, "I believe in myself and... I believe in Asmi."
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is escorted by police while getting ready to run with the Olympic flame, as the Vancouver Olympic torch relay passes through downtown Toronto on Thursday, December 17, 2009.
Rocket Singh Movie Review
He might have given one of the biggest hits of this year, but Ranbir Kapoor's Rocket Singh Salesman Of The Year was the biggest disaster of the year.
The film got one of the lowest openings for a big star cast and a banner film. We hear that the folks at Yash Raj Films went into a huddle and discuss and analyse why the audiences didn't go to the theatres to see the film despite good reviews for Jaideep Saihni's script and Shimit Amin's direction.
You don't have to be Sherlock to find out it happened because it was the worst promoted film of the year. Bitchy actress says, "The release of the film was a well-kept secret. People didn't know it was releasing because there was no buzz." We have to agree.
Rocket Singh Review
What works in Rocket Singh - Salesman of the year
•Shimit Amin, the director of Ab Tak Chappan and Chak De India, is in top form. The feel of the corporate world has been captured very realistically. The writing (Jaideep Sahni) is top notch too, with several scenes making great impact - the first job interview, conversations between Harpreet and his senior manager Nitin, the scene in the club where Harpreet is insulted by his boss, when his boss gets to know about his secret company, his confrontations and many more.
•The second half is better paced (compared to the first) and much more entertaining.
•Like Chak De, Rocket Singh too has some fantastically written characters. The one that stands out though, is Nitin’s. We have no clue about the name of the actor, Yashraj hasn’t revealed it just yet. Nitin as Ranbir’s senior, is fantastic and easily the deserves the top acting honors.
•For probably the first time in his career, Ranbir Kapoor is not the pick of actors. While he does a good job as a Sardar, mingling with the others and completely looking the character, the others steal the scene.
•The romance too works largely due to Shazahn Padamsee’s sweetness, charm and fantastic screen presence.
•Its nice to finally see a Sardar, who are usually seen as clowns, presented realistically.
•Background music by Salim - Suleiman was good.
Performances, in no particular order, since all were good!
•The guy who played the character of Nitin, is by far the best of the lot.
•Ranbir Kapoor - As usual natural, perfect for the character and proves yet again why he’s considered, by many, as the next superstar.
•Shazahn Padamsee - Sweet, sexy and does very well in the acting department too.
•D Santosh - Was brilliant as Rajguru in the Legend of Bhagat Singh. In Rocket Singh, playing a sex-obsessed character, he does very well.
•Prem Chopra after a long long time is good as Harpreet’s father.
•Suri as the owner of AYS, is good.
•Gauhar Khan is as good as the others.
•Mukesh Bhatt too was fantastic.
Coming to the negatives•Rocket Singh is too long, exceeding 3 hours (including intermission)
•The pace isn’t too great. The first half was slow and at times boring.
•Music is average.
Don’t go in expecting a comedy, Rocket Singh is a realistic film that deals with serious issues. Perfect casting, fabulous performances, good direction and writing make Rocket Singh a good one-time watch.
